Cogent launches all-new H.264 ‘SRT’ encoder and decoder family

Cogent Technologies is delighted to announce the launch of an all-new family of H.264 encoders and decoders – the HDE-650/HDD-400 series.

Cogent’s HDE/HDD series is a family of IP (internet) UDP encoders and decoders (unicast, multicast) for professional, high quality, reliable and secure video encoding and IP streaming. They provide major benefits to the broadcaster, including optional 4:2:2 profiles, low bitrate and ultra low delay encoding. This facilitates the best broadcast picture quality with the lowest bit rate, enabling operators to broadcast more channels in their available bandwidth. Designed with professional interfaces including HD/SD-SDI, CVBS, embedded audio, and with professional transport stream interfaces, including DVB-ASI, &TS over IP, the HDE/HDD family can be used for various broadcast applications such as digital TV front-end, IPTV, video monitoring, and most IP related transmission scenarios. In particular, SRT technology makes the HDE/HDD family suitable for all manner of applications, with assured quality of service even when used within unpredictable networks.

SRT is an open source video transport protocol that enables the delivery of high-quality and secure, low-latency video across the public Internet. SRT optimizes streaming performance across unpredictable networks with secure streams and easy firewall traversal, bringing the best quality live video over the worst networks. It accounts for packet loss, jitter, and fluctuating bandwidth, maintaining the integrity and quality of your video.  SRT provides end-to-end security, resiliency and dynamic endpoint adjustment based on real-time network conditions to deliver the best video quality at all times on any network.  www.srtalliance.org
