Earlier this year Cogent Technologies completed a contract for the supply of a large number of microwave links systems to PART, the national broadcaster in Oman.
The contract was won against international competition and, as well as supplying the microwave link equipment and operational spares, Cogent also undertook training of the operators and ‘in country’ engineering services. The supplied CogentLink 2HD equipment features the latest DVB T2 COFDM transmission technology, allowing robust and error free transmission over longer distances. This has significantly raised the standard of live microwave transmission throughout Oman, with Cogent equipment now deployed from main studios in Muscat and Salalah.
Cogent Technologies has also completed a major contract for the supply of microwave link systems, vehicle mount satellite systems and fly-away satellite systems for the Ministry of Information (MOI) in Kuwait. The contract covered the design, manufacture and integration of DSNG terminals onto two DSNG vehicles, plus a complete range of engineering training and operator support services. Two Products within the “Satlinks” range were used for integration on vehicles. This included a 1.2 metre antenna fitted on a GMC SUV vehicle (as pictured) and a 1.5 metre antenna fitted on a Mercedes Sprinter vehicle. Both vehicles were configured with fully integrated uplink chains and automatic satellite acquisition was provided via CogenTRAC control systems. In addition to the supplied vehicles, Cogent supplied an ‘ExpresSat’ flyaway terminal plus a large number of CogentLink 2HD link systems. The extreme climate of Kuwait was of special concern and, with temperatures reaching 54oC ambient during the summer months, Cogent is delighted to report highly reliable operation.
In early 2016 Cogent was delighted to conclude a contract with Agence Maghreb Arabe Presse (Moroccan Press Agency) for the supply, installation and commissioning of two ‘NanoSat’ Ku-band fly/drive flyaway terminals plus 3x motorised Earth Station Terminals.
Cogent was extremely proud to be chosen as MAP’s supplier for this most prestigious project, which now enables the company to provide enhanced live news capabilities to both itself and outside news agencies, either domestically or internationally.
